Last December we made a list of places to visit in Panama. It’s funny how sometimes we travel abroad so much and forget to get to know our very own country! So a couple of weeks ago we started with Chitré, then el Valle and now it was the Westin Playa Bonita‘s turn.
Playa Bonita, in Veracruz, is a great spot because it’s only about 20 minutes away from the city – perfect for a quick weekend staycation.

We arrived on Friday and got the best welcome at the lobby, where they received us with some fresh natural fruit punch.
The bellboy guided us into our Renewal Ocean View Suite which offers wonderful sights of the ocean, the rainforest, AND the Panama Canal through [ TWO ] private balconies.
That afternoon we decided to take it easy, so Rafa relaxed in the living room and watched some tv while I took the LONGEST of baths to wash away my troubles with some bubbles.
Whenever we travel I always bring my own toiletries because I am very picky when it comes to the ingredients they contain.
This time I was happy that I didn’t have to use mine because the Westin’s White Tea Heavenly bath amenities have been reformulated and redesigned to be paba-free, paraben-free, AND dye-free!
Their signature products now feature natural ingredients, including aloe, pea extract, jojoba oil, tea extract and one of my personal favorites: shea butter!!
Saturday morning we woke up super late, ordered some room service and went to the pool to enjoy some fun under the crazy perfect summer sun that’s been shinning in the sky none stop ever since January started.
I must say I really love all inclusive hotels, big buffets just make my day! So after a delicios late lunch, we took a nap and at around 6, we hit the bar of the Executive Club’s Lounge for a little Happy Hour! Their views of the city and ocean in the 19th floor are just breathtaking.
That night we had dinner at Tierra y Fuego, a sleek steakhouse that infuses prime cuts of USDA certified Angus beef with Latin flavors – and after that – we laid by the pool’s tanning chairs and just watched the stars until forever.
Sunday was the real treat though! We went to the pool again but this time at the Pearl Club, an exclusive area of the hotel where they also have a first class wellness center.
After a few hours under the sun we decided to try a couples massage in their Sensory Spa by Clarins, which features 13 treatment rooms—some with floor-to-ceiling views of the gardens and pool—as well as a beauty salon and a hydrotherapy circuit – which was definitely my favorite.
The Aquabella hydrothermal circuit treats your body by alternating hot and cold water treatments to massage, tone, and refresh the skin!
We began with the Raindance Rainmaker Experience Showers, where you basically clean your skin – then tried the Vitality Pools, which feature warm and hot temperatures to relax your muscles – and afterwards, we took a dip in the cold plunge pool that is supposed to help tone your skin.
The Sauna was also great. It’s aromatic dry heat eliminates toxins, while the Amethyst Crystal Steam Room hydrates your skin while removing impurities.
Another one of my favorites was the Pediluvio Stream! An ankle-deep water over river stones pathway that massage your feet while you walk through it.
We finished our day with some herbal tea while reclining in the lounge chairs in their relaxation area – and left definitely feeling better than when we arrived!
Thank you Westin for such an amazing weekend, we really needed it.
